50,000 Corrupt Officials

According to China View, a sister site of Xinhua.org English language news,  50,000 corrupt officials have been punished in the past two years and agreements with 23 countries have been signed to prosecute money laundering and extradite criminals who flee China.  That’s a lot of corrupt officials.  The question is, what kind of punishment did they receive and was it enough?  Corruption is a way of life in political circles, just as it is in most other Asian countries.  You can get a good fix on how it works by reading Heijin: Business and Politics in Taiwan by Ko Lin Chin.
